Registration Tips



Cornell University’s First-Year Parents’ Weekend is a fee-based program that is completely self-supporting and the cost is not included in tuition. Therefore, all families must pay a registration fee to participate in any of the activities, free or ticketed, during First-Year Family Weekend. Due to unavoidable overhead expenses, there is a $10 per person fee for each cancellation. Please see the cancellation policy online for full details.

Registration (online only) begins on Monday, September 14, 2009.

If you do not have access to the Web, please call us at 607-253-4282 between the hours of 10am – 4:00pm EST, Monday-Friday for assistance. All participants planning on attending First-Year Parents’ Weekend must register.

TIPS FOR REGISTERING

  • Ticketed events tend to sell out quickly. The fastest way to secure your tickets is online! You cannot purchase any tickets without first registering for the weekend.
  • Remember to include the names of all participants, including your Cornell student and siblings. Registration is free for first-year Cornell students and children under 10 years of age.
  • If you purchase tickets for additional events, remember to include your Cornell student and younger siblings in the total number unless otherwise indicated as a free event for students. Additional ticket purchases are non-refundable.
  • Please have your credit card available- Visa, MC, or AMEX.
  • Once your registration has been processed and your credit card charged, a confirmation email will be generated and sent to your email inbox. Please keep a copy of this for your records – your secure registration number will be included. Use it should you need to make any changes to your registration package at a later date.
  • Additional ticket purchases are non-refundable. All cancellations must be requested in writing or by email (fypw@cornell.edu).
  • Following the recommendations of Gannett Health Services and the importance of self-isolation to minimize the spread of H1N1 and the public health risk for campus, the registration fees will be refunded to families who have a member (including their Cornell student) who has H1N1 and therefore the family cannot attend FYPW. We regret that additional ticket purchases are non-refundable.
  • All other cancellations will incur a $10 per person fee due to overhead costs and must be made by October 14, 2009. We regret that additional ticket purchases are non-refundable. All cancellations must be requested in writing or by email to fypw@cornell.edu by October 14, 2009.

REGISTRATION FEES

  • Early bird registration, ends October 9th, 2009: $15 per person [excluding Cornell student(s) & children under 10]
  • Regular registration, October 10-23, 2009: $20 per person [excluding Cornell student(s) & children under 10]

**Registration will close on Friday, October 23rd at 5:00 pm, EST**

Any registrations after this date must be done on-site on Friday, October 30th in the Robert Purcell Community Center and will be subject to a late fee of $5 per person. We cannot guarantee availability of additional special event tickets if registering on-site.

ADDITIONAL TICKETED EVENTS

Available at the FYPW website: (families should purchase a ticket for their Cornell Student)

  • IthacAid Concert – Friday, 10/30, 7 pm, Statler Auditorium, $10 per person
  • Chordials Fall Concert – Friday, 10/30, 7:30pm, Hollister B14, $7 per person
  • Twilight Concert, Cornell University Chorus – Saturday, 10/31, 5 pm, Sage Chapel, $8 per person
  • Rocktoberfest X – Saturday, 10/31, 8 pm, Barnes Hall, $6 per person
  • Conversation with Susan Murphy – Sunday, 11/1, 10 am, Bailey Hall. tickets can be reserved at the time you register. There is no cost to reserve tickets.

Additional Ticketed Events (Families should purchase a ticket for their Cornell Student)

  • Men’s Ice Hockey vs. Niagara, Friday 10/30 at 7 pm
    Men's Hockey tickets are not sold on-line, but are available in person at the box office on Thursday, October 29 at 10 am. The vast majority of Men's Hockey Tickets are filled by season ticket holders so only a very limited number will go on sale on the 29th. For families interested in purchasing tickets we would suggest having your student purchase tickets for you at the Box Office line at 10 am on the 29th. If that is not feasible, families can call the Box Office at 607-254-2327 starting at 10 am on the 29th to purchase any tickets that are not sold in person.
  • "Nice People Dancing to Good Country Music" presented by the Schwartz Center – tickets can be purchased at www.schwartztickets.com. Friday, 10/30, 7:30 pm. Saturday, 10/31, 2 pm and 7:30 pm
  • Cornell Concert Series: Mozarteum Orchestra. Friday, 10/30, 8 pm. Tickets may be purchased at www.BaileyTickets.com special price of $15 per person for FYPW participants
